Last seen August -September 2013, missing, presumed lost. So is this the end of the Can Am series? With no results from 2013 posted, the future of the series is bleak at best. Billy T. Where are you?

the Can Am should be allowed to die, so that we can move on with something better. the whole idea of the can am was to encourage players to travel to canada, michigan, etc back in a time when there were way fewer tournaments. Now there are too many people who cannot cross the border, gas is $4/gallon making trips to Michigan difficult(and vice-versa for players there), very very few people actually care about can am points- points that arent kept up to date and the payout might happen a year late.
I would much rather see a upstate NY tournament series that would encourage players from syracuse and albany to come out west and us to go visit their tournaments more often. People would actually care about this, and it would be much more feasible for some players to make every event.
FWIW- this is coming from someone who in multiple years has played 10+ can am events, cashed in the points payout, cared about his points, etc. It WAS a great series, but due to lack of cross border play and so many closer local tournaments it should be scrapped imo

Agreed Luke. I just want to know what happened to the money from 2013. $2-$3 per person at every can-am event.....

I'll speak to Billy T sometime tomorrow. I do know that his computer was down and might still be down. I haven't paid attention to the can-am thing at all because I don't play enough events. Other wise I would have been asking already. I will ask him what's up.

Bill replied to Lori....
Said he didn't get all the checks from Can-Am TD's. He also was not able to update points. This money needs to go back to the players that paid to play in these events, or the results need to get tabulated with what results you have and people paid out.

I'm not disagreeing that Can-Am's time may be past but if another series were to take its place it would probably be better to try for a tri-state series involving past events from WNY WPA and Eastern Ohio and expand from there. The driving radius for that area is reasonable, many events to choose from and the player base already travels among many of those events from year to year. Not that the idea for a NY state series isn't a good one too, but it might be easier to build on the past instead of starting from scratch.

I tend to agree with Luke, but what gets run is always a matter of who wants to run it. I don't know Billy's plans, but it seems like running the can am series is a substantial amount of work. How many people have good attendance for the series these days. I know the number/percentage of people for doubles (though high in general) who have solid attendance has diminished in recent years. If it is still worth doing, and someone (again, not sure of billy's plans) wants to do it, it will get done. My opinion doesn't matter much cuz I work weekends, but if I didn't I would be much more likely to do a NY based series or an OH/PA/NY series.

running the series in itself isn't a ton of work IF(and thats a big if) all the TDs submitted scores and money in a timely fashion.
I like the idea of a series involving rochester, buffalo, pittsbugh, cleveland and medina/canton areas as all are within a reasonable drive.

Yeah. That's what I meant mostly. Getting everyone to do what they need to do to make things not a pain in the arse is tough.
