I have a few questions about league. Is it open to anyone? Does doubles mean you play as a team? Do you have to commit to every week? What is the difference between amateur and open? Is it men and women? What is the cost? Do you have to play at a certain skill level? I usually shoot around 62 from the whites. I've been playing for a few years with friends and would like to play with some people that are better than me so I could learn something. Sorry if this is posted somewhere but I didn't see anything.
Thanks.

Well I found the info page about league. So the money and commitment questions were answered for me. Not to sure about some of my other questions though.

Is it open to anyone? yes
Does doubles mean you play as a team? yes with a partner. best shot
Do you have to commit to every week? no
What is the difference between amateur and open? open players are higher skill and sometimes play from blues
Is it men and women? yes not many women play but they shoot from the reds
What is the cost? i think 9 for am league plus a couple optional bucks for ctp and ace pool
Do you have to play at a certain skill level? I usually shoot around 62 from the whites. am
I've been playing for a few years with friends and would like to play with some people that are better than me so I could learn something. There are good am players to learn from but there are combined weeks with open (check the schedule)

Thanks Mike. I live in Hamburg, Wilson is pretty far for me so hopefully I'll start going next week. Best shot means that you play from the best shot every throw between you and your partner?

Also keep in mind the handicap singles leagues (tuesday at como would be closer for you) if you are concerned about your skill level. People of all levels play those. But doubles is fun.

I started league last year, it's a real good time and you get to meet a lot of cool people. If you have friends who play encourage them to come with you. Maybe consider the grand opening of The Angry Apple in Darien Lake on June 16th. The entry fees are low and you get a free disc. Awesome course and would be a good start if you would like to get more involved in tournaments and competitive play. If your friends are of a lower skill level they even have a Rec division. nrdg-forum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tournylocal&action=display&thread=21
