I was visiting recently and played Beaver Island. I noticed some of the Par signs were way high, but when I checked Disc Golf Course Review, everything (from Blue) was listed as a Par 3. In my mind the course is more than a 54 from the blues, but far less than the Par 70 the signs would indicate. I think I would put it at a 59 or 60.
Would someone tell me how the locals typically play the course, say for tournaments, and possibly update the hole info on DGCR? I'd like to know how I did, really.
Thanks

Questions about par are always tough to answer and lead to many debates, lol. The best estimate is probably the SSE score listed on the DGCR website. It lists the course as 56.2 from the blues. That is what a 1000 rated player can expect to average on the course.
There are definitely 3 or 4 holes I am always happy to 3 when I play. For me it is better than getting a 2 on some of the shorter holes.
I hope this info helps.

We play them all as par 3's but you could argue that 6 is a par 4 and 12 and 18 are easy par 4's. You don't typically assign different pars from one tee to the other. The idea is that a par 3 from the white tees will be a par 3 for a better player from the blues. Though it isn't unheard of to see different pars for different tees.

I'm sure you run tournaments there. So you typically just call it a Par 54 for all divisions playing from the Blues? Interesting. Some of those are really long even for advanced players.
Get what your saying about par unchanging as skill levels move up to longer tees, but in my experience it is not uncommon. Often changes in line and flight path options dictate a par change. However, BISP is pretty wide open so perhaps it makes more sense. I just thought some of the 5's per sign were easily par 4's at best. And some of the 4's, 3's.
Thanks for your replies

Nicks registration was approved a while ago. I usually get to them within 24 hours but sometimes when I'm busy it can take a couple days.

We play at Beaver Island a lot. Sometimes we play what the par signs say, other times we play all the holes a par 3. I prefer the par 3 method, it's just easier. Beaver Island is such a great course, eagles, hawks, arctic swans, it's always a visual feast!
